Anne McCall, MA, MSc, MRTPI, RSPB Scotland Director

Anne McCall was recently appointed as the RSPB Scotland Director. Prior to taking on this role Anne was the Regional Director for the RSPB in South and West Scotland for almost 9 years, covering 21 different local authorities stretching from Argyll and Bute to The Scottish Borders. The regional team includes around 100 staff, supports a £4-5m annual budget and covers 28 Nature Reserves. She moved into this position following 10 years as Head of Planning and Development for RSPB Scotland working on individual planning applications and policy development. Anne has also worked for North Lanarkshire Council and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

With a strong interest in partnership working Anne has been involved with a number of different projects and small charities including Chairing the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative Board, Chair of the Coalfield Environment Initiative, Board member on the Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership, Board member of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Countryside Trust, Chair of the Garnock Connections Landscape Partnership Board and member of the RSPB UK Ethics Advisory Committee.

As a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute Anne was elected RTPI Scottish Convenor in 2002. She is also a former member of the RTPI UK General Assembly, Vice-convenor of the RTPI UK policy committee and was voted UK Young Planner of the year for 2002. Working with other conservation bodies under the umbrella organisation Scottish Environment LINK Anne co-ordinated the work of around 30 environmental bodies in relation to planning issues and strategic environmental assessment.
